How would Celine Dion’s music sound without Celine Dion? Now’s your big chance to find out. While Dion’s away, her cello section will play. Literally—they’re playing a gig at the Freakin’ Frog.

The group, Cellicentric, met at Celine’s Caesars show but has gone on to compose and arrange music of their own. They play classical, rock, jazz, pop and heavy metal. They put beatboxing behind Bach and piano behind Vivaldi, but their music always stays focused on the cello. Hence the name.

Cellicentric is composed of three members. There’s Lindsey Springer, who studied cello performance at the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and went on to play with Beyoncé, Shakira and Frankie Moreno. There’s Irina Chirkova, who was born in Bulgaria and studied at the Sofia Music School from the age of 6 (?!) to 19. She has played before Bill Clinton and Mitt Romney. (Different gigs.) And then there’s hometown cellist Raymond Sicam III, who studied at the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts and has gone on to play with John Mayer, Rod Stewart and Josh Groban.

On Thursday, Springer, Chirkova and Sicam will play songs from their debut CD, Into Existence. You can hear them do it for much less than it’d cost you to see Dion at Caesars: $0.00.
