Strip House is celebrating and you get to take the cake

Come on, it’s only 24 layers of chocolate. You can handle it.

The Details

Strip House
Planet Hollywood, 737-5200.
Sunday-Thursday, 5-11 p.m.; Friday-Saturday, 5-11:30 p.m.

Planet Hollywood’s Strip House is celebrating its fifth year, but its patrons have been receiving all the gifts: quintessential steakhouse fare in a super-luxe space. Hiding on the shockingly quiet second-floor promenade, Strip House is known for its killer décor (bright red walls plastered with prints of vintage burlesque performers and tuxed-up servers weaving through old-school leather booths) and ridiculously rich chocolate cake, all 24 layers of it. (Can you believe an estimated 10 tons of this decadent dessert has been served since 2007?)

It’s a great overall experience, bolstered by a menu that takes no chances in satiating your appetite for prime beef. Strip House steaks come out with a perfect char, adding bonus flavor and texture to your chosen cut. The preparation is a nice match for the crisp goose fat potatoes, one of the more popular side dishes. No surprises here, just good old meat and potatoes. Try to save room for that cake.
