Lone Star State comedians take the stage for NFR
Wed, Dec 12, 2012 (3:28 p.m.)
If there’s one thing the great state of Texas has produced plenty of, it’s cowboys, and some of the country’s best have converged on Las Vegas this week to compete in the 2012 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. But it turns out Texas also produces something else: popular comedians. Four of the country’s most successful stand-ups, all born in Texas, are performing in Las Vegas this week, and NFR fans of every stripe should find plenty of laughs while waiting for their next rodeo event. Rodney Carrington (December 13-15, 10 p.m., $107-$125, MGM Grand) combines comedy and country music; Bill “Where’s Your Sign?” Engvall (December 14, 9 p.m., $55-$70, Treasure Island) is well-known from his work on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour; Ron “Tater Salad” White (December 14-15, 10 p.m., $75-$97, Mirage) is another Blue Collar Comedy Tour veteran; and Jeff Dunham (December 13, 8 p.m., $50-$90, the Colosseum) is currently one of the circuit’s most successful acts, combining insult comedy with ventriloquism. Oh, and non-rodeo fans? You’re invited, too
