New space exhibit will have you packing for Mars

News this week that a NASA spacecraft detected matter from outside our solar system has scientists absolutely giddy about the ways that find could shed light on galactic evolution. But the evolution of America’s space exploration is no less fantastic, as displayed in the Springs Preserve’s new traveling exhibit, Space: A Journey to Our Future, which explains the basics of space travel—the force a rocket needs to overcome gravity—offers moon rock samples and plays audio/video recordings of astronauts on the lunar landscape.
While there, walk through the quarters of a mock lunar explorer, see artifacts from past expeditions and step on scales to see how much you’d weigh on Mars and the moon. The exhibit, once featured at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, includes interactive computer displays that allow visitors to study the electromagnetic spectrum, pack for a trip to Mars and set up a base camp.
Did we mention that there’s a centrifuge ride?
