Consider it a sign of the pan-seared, Michelin-starred times in Las Vegas, a link-heavy acknowledgement that dining in this town has evolved way past cheap chicken dinners and discount shrimp cocktail. National food and restaurant industry website Eater.com has finally added a dedicated Vegas edition to a roster of feeds from 16 other cities, including such food-obsessed destinations as Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon. No longer will we be lumped into LA’s site, like some petulant suburb. In dining blog terms, Las Vegas has arrived.

A glance at the local version, edited by Susan Stapleton, yields stories on Michel Richard’s new Atlantic City project, Bizarre Foods and Andrew Zimmern filming at Bartolotta—and links to stories from websites like Bon Appétit, Bloomberg Businessweek and, aw shucks, the Weekly. For food obsessives and those who wield steel at work, Eater Vegas is likely to be a regular browse. And for those of us who’ve long heralded the local dining scene as worthy of serious national recognition, it’s a welcome indication that people who eat for a living are waking up to our bounty. The only downside? Having to fight them for a table on Friday night.
