BLT’s Double Barrel cocktail float is pure adult nostalgia

The Double Barrel is a childhood favorite, matured with Jack Daniels Old No. 7.

There’s a new sharpshooter in town. Yup, BLT Burger’s Double Barrel ($12) will take you down with a sweet Kentucky drawl and a sharp bite that stings like a rattlesnake. This is a root beer float not suitable for children, developed by Richard Breitkreutz and introduced to the menu at the Mirage burger joint early last fall. IBC root beer, an all-American favorite since 1919, anchors the cocktail with classic spice, while Häagen-Dazs vanilla smooths the carbonation into a velvety cream. Finally, Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 gives this grown-up float a smoky kick, caramel notes and a lil’ bit of cowboy-stomping yeehaw. Head to BLT to try it with one of chef Laurent Tourondel’s burgers or whip up a batch of Double Barrels for entertaining at home. Preparation is simple, and the taste is a sure shot crowd-pleaser.
