Mandalay Bay Events Center, 632-7580

For years, I thought of Tool as that band with the creepy claymation video, or maybe that band with the Bill Hicks connection. Later, they were that band with the really long songs, and that band that hardly ever releases albums. I was always vaguely aware Tool was out there, but would never have been considered a fan. Until I saw my first Tool set, at Coachella 2006. Since then, they’ve been that band I never miss live.

I still don’t think to listen to my Tool albums very often (when I do, it’s usually Lateralus), and I probably couldn’t come up with the names of my favorite Tool songs (I know “Reflection” is one of them). But when Tool plays my town, I’m there, and I know it’s gonna be good—heavy and precise but also creative and considered. If you’ve only thought of Tool as that band with the bald singer your friends who like metal are into, you might wanna come, too
