Photos: Dragon Parade at Caesars Palace

Leila Navidi

As a press photographer in a city where celebrities appear frequently and many big events occur, I'm often jostling for space with other photographers, whether they be paparazzi or fellow press photographers, for the best shots of famous faces and happenings. Monday morning at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace was no different. Except the celebrities were cute-as-pie kindergartners and fifth graders from The Meadows School performing a Dragon Parade for Chinese New Year, and the paparazzi were the elated and overzealous parents of those children.

Many parents had cameras and lenses that rivaled my own, and jostling for space with them was useless. For once, I conceded that my photos were not as important as the others around me and gave up ground. It was a fight that I didn't want to win. There was enough cuteness to go around.
