Tips for landing a job on a Las Vegas pool deck

It’s not the sunshine or the steady flow of fruit-spiked cocktails that makes Encore Beach Club a summer oasis on the Strip. It’s the staff: 400 deep, dressed to tan and delivering enthusiastic service to clubgoers who pack the pool deck to revel in the feeling of being young and good looking.
While the weather’s still chilly, Valley dayclubs have already started hiring the thousands of bartenders, cocktail servers and lifeguards who’ll keep the party running smoothly all through the sweaty season. “We’re looking for fresh faces,” says Bryan Bass, executive director of marketing for Las Vegas Nightlife Group, which operates EBC. “We’re looking for personality and for people that will fit in with the culture of Encore Beach Club ... and that look good in their bikinis.”
And the perks? “If you’re someone that likes electronic music, then you get to see the biggest DJs in the worlds spinning while you’re at work,” Bass says.
EBC holds group interviews January 30 and 31 (apply at wynnjobs.com or call 770-5627 for more info). Whether you go for a job at the Encore pool or elsewhere, these tips from Bass will help you ace your dayclub interview:
•1. Bring a headshot or photographs, (preferably shot by someone else and not in your bathroom mirror).
•2. You have 364 days to go out partying; the night before you interview probably shouldn’t be one of them.
•3. Have a friend double-check your résumé. If you misspell cocktails, we’re going to assume you can’t serve them.
•4. Like your mother used to say: Don’t slouch, stand up straight and smile!
•5. Don’t overly spray-tan. Those uniforms are orange and aren’t meant to be Jersey Shore camouflage.
•6. Be confident that your winter workout program was a success. If it wasn’t, act like it was.
