In sync and under water

Sometimes it takes a couple edits of an event before I find a photo to include in the coverage. Likely blinded by all of the smiles, sequined swimsuits and feats of athleticism as the athletes launched themselves out of the water, I didn’t notice this photo until the second time I went through my take from a recent synchronized swimming competition. Initially, my eye was caught by the sweep of the water and arms, but then I noticed the intense, almost angry look on the faces of the swimmers from Mexico. That moment contrasted nicely with the smiles that were affixed to the athletes’ faces as securely as the gelatin-coated hair stuck to their heads.
