You may see a little less neon and a little more red, white and blue at the 16th annual Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas this weekend, as attendees will not only be rocking out, but also rocking the vote.
Insomniac and Rock the Vote are uniting to bring Spin the Vote to the Speedway to encourage energetic electronic dance music fans to get involved in the upcoming 2012 election.
Attendees will not only be encouraged to experience seven stages of DJs and dancing, but also to register to vote at the festival, where they can receive election information and share their opinions on the importance of voting. There will even be a patriotic photo booth for grabs for concertgoers who want a break from the dancefloor.
"Partnering with Rock the Vote to create Spin the Vote is a great opportunity for our fans to have their voices heard in the political process. Following a tremendous success at EDC New York, we are excited to introduce the proactive project to Las Vegas and enliven our fans to participate in the upcoming election, especially in a vital swing state like Nevada," said Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac.
And Spin the Vote won’t stop at EDC. The program will also pop up at Insomniac music festivals throughout the year, including Electric Forest in June, Nocturnal Wonderland in September and Escape from Wonderland in October.
"With the growing popularity of electronic dance music among young adults, there is no better opportunity than Insomniac's festivals to inspire and register new voters across the U.S.," said Heather Smith, president of Rock the Vote.
Rock the Vote has already registered more than 5 million young voters and hopes to keep that number growing through their partnership with Insomniac.
