To my left, a yellow handbag rides a life-size pink elephant. To my right, a glass case gleams with antique eyeball necklaces and a tiny gold slot machine charm from Paris. Right in front of me is Robert Duffy, president of Marc Jacobs.

Duffy, who came to Vegas in April to open Marc by Marc Jacobs in the Forum Shops, says women in this city have great bodies and wear color, so this store is stocked with its own collection of flirty bikinis.

Coin purses to wrist cuffs, novelty condoms to a juicy kaleidoscope of cashmere, Marc by Marc is priced for stylish people on a tighter budget than those who schedule private couture sessions at the Marc Jacobs boutique. With original playing cards for a few bucks and a bracelet of diamond-studded art deco dice for $6,000 (which sold almost immediately), the shop is in line with Vegas itself, where life’s pleasures collide for the common man. As Duffy says: “You can buy everything in the world in one five-block walk.”
