Although there’s no room for shades of gray at AFAN’s Black & White Party, August 25 at Hard Rock’s Nirvana Pool, there is room for one other color among the sea monochromatic-clad attendees. Twelve individuals are honored every other year for their service in the fight against HIV/AIDS with the “Right to Wear Red.” And this year, you can help choose who gets to don scarlet, as the nonprofit has added a People’s Choice selection to the prestigious group of philanthropists.

Nominations are being accepted through 5 p.m. on July 1 in the form of a personal story in a one-page letter (including both nominator and nominee’s emails and phone numbers). Letters can be sent to events@afanlv.org.

The winning nominee will be awarded two VIP tickets to the event, have his or her name printed in the evening’s program and receive onstage acknowledgment during the party. The full list of Right to Wear Red honorees, including the People’s Choice selection, will be released in mid-July.

So, if you have a friend, family member or coworker commendable for the time, effort and resources they’ve devoted to battling HIV/AIDS, get to work. It’s up to you who’ll have the right to wear red at the summer’s must-attend benefit bash.
