When it’s 105 degrees and you’re standing in a packed crowd in an asphalt parking lot for a couple hours, a case could be made for crowd surfing just to get a break from the heat. But these were mostly Vegas kids at the local stop of the Vans Warped Tour, who grew up in the desert, so the only reason for crowd surfing was the unabashed joy of it. Over and over again rock fans were held aloft and “surfed” to the front of the stage like projectiles being hurled at a castle, where besieged security guards pulled them safely over the barriers and ushered them out of the buffer zone.
