Best Public Official: Catherine Cortez Masto

The Nevada Attorney General, a Democrat who easily won a second term in 2010, despite the Republican landslide, has been an aggressive watchdog of the banks that helped to crater our economy. It’s a testament to her work that, despite an understated, almost publicity-shy approach, Masto has frequently caught the notice lately of high profile New York Times financial columnist Gretchen Morgenson.
