Rio hosts $1 million buy-in poker tourney

The $1 million buy-in poker tournament, better known as “the big one for one drop,” is set to begin July 1 at 1:11 p.m. at the Rio. The highly anticipated event will include more than 40 businessmen, card sharks and philanthropists, all playing to walk away with the grand prize of more than $15 million and the most prized possession in gaming: a World Series of Poker championship bracelet.
The games will begin in the Amazon Ballroom in the Rio Convention Center Sunday and continue till Tuesday. The final table will take place the Tuesday at 12:30 p.m.
Among the players participating are Cirque de Soleil founder Guy Laliberté, Treasure Island Resort owner Phil Ruffin and MGM Resorts Chief Design and Construction Officer Bobby Baldwin. The list of poker pros competing includes Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu and Mike Sexton.
