Momix Presents Botanica Forget everything you know about dance, then go see Momix. This troupe is known for creating optical illusions with the human body and has appeared in Target ads and Hanes commercials. In Botanica, Momix takes on the vast subject of nature for a piece it calls a “natural aphrodisiac.” April 20, 7:30 p.m., $24-$59.
Joey DeFrancesco Trio When DeFrancesco was 17, he got recruited to tour and record with Miles Davis. As far as we’re concerned, that alone gives him free rein to bill himself as “the finest jazz organist on the planet” on his official website. Judge for yourself at one of three Cabaret Jazz sets next month. April 20, 8:30 p.m.; April 21, 7 & 9:30 p.m.; $42-$55.
PSY By Seven Fingers Like Cirque du Soleil channeled through the mind of Salvador Dalí, this Canadian circus troupe delivers feats of strength and flexibility set inside a slanted dream landscape full of paranoia and distortion. Surrealist circus fun. May 15-16, 7:30 p.m., $24-$59.
Idina Menzel You know her, you just don’t know that you know her. Along with Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Morrison—you know them, too—Menzel is one Broadway’s biggest “crossover” stars. She starred in Wicked and Rent, and now she plays Rachel’s mom on Glee. And in a couple months, she’ll be playing before all of us. June 10, $39-$129, tickets on sale March 23.
