Nightlife news & notes: On the Rocks festival coming this fall and more

Sample the sweeter side of Jagermeister at STK.
A handful of Las Vegas’ finest barhands hit Hyde last Friday afternoon for the Vegas Uncork’d Mix-Off, a saucy battle where guests sipped and voted for their favorites among a field that included the Wynn’s Patricia Richards, Cosmopolitan’s Mariena Mercer, Herbs & Rye’s Nectaly Mendoza, Jose Zepeda from Hyde and Matt Myers from the Bellagio. The cocktails were all inventive and refreshing, but the cup (literally, there was a trophy) went to Mercer’s tea-flavored concoction, complete with a Szechuan button “glass” garnish that took two days to create. Visit the champ at Chandelier Bar to see what else she’s mixing these days.
Also in the mix: DJs, or should we say they’re on the rocks? Nightclub & Bar magazine will present On the Rocks Las Vegas this fall, a nightlife festival featuring three days of parties, tastings and music November 9-11. Also on the schedule, S.K.A.M. Artist—the bi-coastal agency behind artists like Lil Jon, Bad Boy Bill and Eric Cubeechee—will spin off a DJ fan fest as part of the event, with workshops, panels and performances. Read up on the details at ontherockslasvegas.com.
At Ghostbar’s Jack-N-Cake (see Hot Spots), your liquor comes with a confection chaser. At STK, the confections have the booze baked right in, with the Dessert Menage a Trois ($14). The sampler features alcohol-infused sweets like the Jäger-bomb (Jäger mousse with Red Bull gelee) and the Cosmopolitan (vodka cake with Grand Marnier mousse), but if you want to try it, you better make it quick. The dessert trio is a summer-only special.
