Three dishes our resident foodies are loving

      Semolina Gnocchi, Due Forni, $11.95

Due Forni may be known for pizza, but the best dish on the menu isn’t a pie. Considering he has only two ovens to work with, chef Carlos Buscaglia had to devise a way to make gnocchi without sacrificing flavor or texture. His solution was semolina, resulting in mini-gnocchi served in a black truffle crema awash with ample amounts of Nueske’s bacon and peas and topped with shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. The result is a cavalcade of smoke and umami that you won’t want to miss. 3555 S. Town Center Dr. #105, 586-6500 -Jim Begley

Hangover Breakfast Burger, Binion's Cafe, $9.25

Everybody’s throwing a fried egg on their burgers these days, but only at Binion's makeshift diner does the combination really feel like breakfast. The egg and fresh beef patty come straight off the flat-top grill and land on a buttery bun. Add two strips of bacon and two slices of American cheese to lettuce, tomato, onion and sweet pickles and you’ve got a greasy-good masterpiece. 128 Fremont St., 382-1600 -Brock Radke

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cupcake, The Cupcakery, $3

A cupcake is a cupcake. Until you enter the Cupcakery’s hot pink world, where the base is über-moist and the topping expertly marries granular, creamy and sweet. Take a dozen different flavors in a polka-dotted box, but understand that this chocolate goodie topped with fluffy peanut butter frosting, mini chocolate kisses and peanuts will not make it home. 9680 S. Eastern Ave., 207-2253; 7175 W. Lake Mead Blvd. #118, 835-0060; 3770 Las Vegas Blvd., 730-7777 -Erin Ryan.
