I wouldn’t exactly call this a house. It’s more like an M.C. Escher game of Marco Polo—in Wonkavision. For years, Lonnie Hammargren’s house has been a source of mystery for me. I’ve driven by so many times, and from the back, it looked like Disneyland had a baby with the History Channel. Once a year on Nevada Day, Hammargren opens his home to the public, and this year I took my first tour. What I found were floors upon floors of historical gems, like a perfect multi-level video game. And there were dinosaurs. Really, it all makes sense. If you’re going to have a space shuttle, get the matching roller coaster, and then use that as a centerpiece for history as we know it. Why wouldn’t you do that?
