Some people might laugh when they hear that girl’s flag football is now a sanctioned winter sport in the Clark County School District. I’ve photographed a lot of different sports in my almost 10-year career as a photojournalist—from soccer to curling, and basketball to bocce ball. Girl’s flag football is nothing to snicker at. There are some serious athletes on that field. Photographically, you get great action and amazing expressions, and games are played at 3:30 p.m. in two quick 20-minute halves, which means the light is absolutely beautiful. Give me girl’s flag football over Friday night lights any day.
