Who can resist a celebrity mug shot? A good arrest photo can say so much, and Benjamin Alejandro’s Success, opening this week at Amanda Harris Gallery of Contemporary Art, does so with the LA artist’s silk-screened mug shots, exposing both celebrities and the public’s insatiable appetite for these icons at their best and worst. You may already be familiar with Alejandro, known for his Marilyn Monroe murals and the wheat-pasted large-scale images of his own mug on LA buildings.
