Local gourmet popcornery Popped will be taking over the MGM Grand location of Sugar Factory on Dec. 1 and serving up samples of its own creative concoctions.
Sugar Factory is famous for pop-culture sweets like Vegas celebrity-approved Couture Pops often seen on red carpets and in US Weekly or OK! magazines. It also has stores inside Paris, Mirage and Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.
Popped, on the other hand, was created last year by three partners (including two UNLV grads) with the goal of modernizing popcorn. By applying molecular gastronomy techniques, the Popped crew has created innovative flavors and textures with the traditional snack. Expect to sample dill pickle, Buffalo wing, caramel almond or cookies and cream flavored popcorn, as well as signature frozen popcorn. The popcorn pop-up at Sugar Factory will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 1.
