Project Pink fundraiser returns for third year at Station Casinos
Mon, Oct 1, 2012 (11:39 a.m.)
Go overboard with the specialty Project Pink pastries available at Grand Cafe locations at Station Casinos properties—it’s for a good cause.
Today kicks off the first day of Station Casinos’ third annual Project Pink initiative, a month-long community campaign to raise funds for the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. There are tons of pink fundraisers happening locally every October, but few are as deliciously rewarding as this one.
Station incorporates fun fundraising elements throughout the majority of its properties, including restaurants, spas and even designated blackjack and poker tables. The easiest way to get involved is to eat up: 50 percent of all pink ribbon French macaroons, cookies, caramel apples, cheesecake lollipops, strawberry cheesecake, peanut brittle and other specialty desserts at all seven Grand Café locations will be donated. Too sweet for you? Indulge in pink fajitas (pink flour tortillas wrapping chicken, steak or shrimp) or pink sopapillas at all Cabo Mexican restaurant locations, as well as Garduno’s at Fiesta Rancho and Amigos at Fiesta Henderson.
Project Pink was originally developed by Red Rock Resort executive pastry chef Jaret Blinn, who lost his mother to breast cancer. The response to the program in its first year in 2010 was so overwhelming, its presence has been expanded company-wide. Last year, Project Pink raised nearly $50,000 for the local charity in just one month.
