Forget Times Square—Guy Fieri’s burger joint belongs in Las Vegas

Guy Fieri is getting hated on. The snobby New York media was all over the spiky-haired Food Network personality and UNLV grad even before the recent opening of his most ambitious restaurant ever, the three-level, 16,000-square-foot Guy’s American Kitchen in Times Square. Predictably, Anthony Bourdain—never one to take it easy on TV chef types—chimed in, blaming Fieri’s new “terror-dome” for turning the neighborhood into “the Ed Hardy district” and claiming his big menu of colorful comfort food is overpriced.

All worked up over a harmless tourist trap? Maybe New Yorkers just like to complain. Don’t worry, Guy … but next time, think about bringing your brand to Las Vegas. You already know the city, and you can bet Strip tourists would love to drive in to your diner or dive. There’s plenty of room, including a big spot in Excalibur’s casino where a themed barbecue joint just closed. Think about it.
