Chip It! lets users turn their photos into paint palettes

Image

Paint lovers, start your browsers. Courtesy of Sherwin-Williams comes Chip It!, a website that lets you create custom palettes based on any given image.

It works like so: Head to letschipit.com and drag the button onto your browser’s toolbar. Then, anytime you spot an image that speaks to you, just hit the button and watch as it generates a unique “chipcard” based on the colors in your image and the more than 1,500 shades in the Sherwin-Williams arsenal. Suddenly, the picture from your recent road trip isn’t just blue, black and tan, it’s Aleutian blue, Tricorn Black and Pottery Urn with hints of pale Lantern Light yellow and St. Bart’s aquamarine.

Save your chipcard, if you like, and use it to inspire your next home improvement project, or just consider Chip It! a fun time-waster and an exercise in vocabulary building. That’s not yellow, it’s Sundance.
