At the MINExpo everything is oversized. The trucks are as big as houses, the tires are 11 feet tall, and the dippers for the rock shovels are bigger than some apartments I’ve lived in. Or at least, they’re really big. This new LatchFree dipper for a Caterpillar 7495 electric rope shovel has the capacity to pick up 77 cubic yards (in terms of payload, that’s about 110 tons of material). Being both fantastically huge and easily accessible on the convention floor, they are popular places for attendees to pose for photos. This man from Moscow was posing for someone who is out of the frame.
