The LGBT community center is closing the doors on its longtime Commercial Center location this Friday. The organization is slated to open anew at Downtown’s Robert L. Forbuss building March 4. Moving sucks, right? Well, this worthy organization is hoping you’ll lend a hand during its volunteer hours throughout the move. During the State of the Union, President Obama announced new online College Scorecards to help parents and students determine “where you can get the most bang for your educational buck.” How does UNLV stack up? Its scorecard reports an average annual in-state cost of $9,943, with 39.5 percent of students graduating in six years. UNR, by comparison, costs $14,127 per year and graduates 51.4 percent in six years, and San Diego State costs $8,527 with 65.6 percent graduating. Bike on

If you’ve stopped by Downtown recently, you’ve likely noticed a little extra color on local roads. As part of its Downtown Beautification Initiative, the city and RTC are installing new bike lanes covered by bright green thermoplastic film melted directly into the asphalt. The lanes are Step 1 in making city streets safer for people traveling on two wheels. Step 2? Teaching drivers to check their mirrors before opening the door. —Sarah Feldberg
