When a gallery has had a phenomenal first year of exhibitions, there's no better way to celebrate than with a retrospective show, a year in review if you will.

For its one-year anniversary, 5th Wall Gallery' Space // Time // Engagement gives us a look at the roster of diverse artists who've shown there while highlighting the gallery's impetus, spread out in three spaces inside Emergency Arts.

Space, in the main gallery, features artifacts from previous shows and new works by artists who’ve been featured at 5th Wall, including Daniel Oshima, Jordan Payne, Shannon Eakins, Mark Dombrosky, Fred Mitchell Jenessa Kenway, Jordan Payne, Daniel Steffey and Jevijoe Vitug. Even Luis Brennan, whose I and I had the small gallery divided by a wall of yarn and invited visitors on one side to leave notes for those on the other side, returns with an interactive piece asking guests to write about their day on provided slips of paper. Artifacts from previous shows, blended with new works, come together seamlessly, reminding us that 5th Wall is a great space. Across the hall are gallery curators’ works in Time.

Engagement features multiple artists’ works (from Matthew Couper and JK Russ to Brent Holmes, Ashanti McGee, Noelle Garcia and Olivia Jane) made within the confines of gallery-provided frames and hangs salon-style in Emergency Arts’ common space near Karin Miller’s and Ian Racoma’s mural. The exhibits, celebrating a year of fresh ideas, installations, conceptual, performance, video and sound art, have us looking forward to another year of 5th Wall.
