Next time you’re at the club you just might be dancing to your own beats, as frequent Vegas headliner Avicii has set out to produce a collaborative track with his fans from across the globe.
“My main ambition with this project is to create a large, worldwide music collaboration. It will be incredibly cool to create a house piece out of so many talented artists’ different ideas,” Avicii said in today’s press release.
The six-week project, Avicii X You, began today and culminates with the track’s premiere on February 26. The Swedish sensation is asking all aspiring DJ/producer-types to submit their sounds throughout at aviciixyou.com, with each week devoted to one of the track’s specific elements. The schedule is as follows: melody, January 9-15; bass line, January 16-22; beat/rhythm, January 23-29; break, January 30-February 6; effects, February 7-13.
Each week Avicii will select his three favorite submissions and put them up for public vote on the project’s website, with the winning sounds earning track placement. Avicii will then use the project’s final week to mix and mash them all together.
And should your submission be chosen, don’t get ahead of yourself thinking about royalty checks – all royalties will be donated to Avicii’s charity foundation, House for Hunger. Just last year the organization donated $1 million to Feeding America.
So, what are you waiting for? Over 600 artists from more than 70 countries had already submitted more than 1,000 sounds at press time. It’s time to get creative!
