Nightlife news & notes: Tao’s Sundance pop-up, DJ residencies and more

Bagatelle launches its ladies night January 10.

It’s time to play musical DJs. Local nightlife companies are starting 2013 with big news: Wynn/Encore has announced 42 DJ residencies—returning names like Afrojack and Skrillex and new residents like Wolfgang Gartner, Zeds Dead, Martin Solveig, Dirty South and Bassnectar—across property venues. Also, DJ/reality star/blowout king Pauly D is on the move, heading to Haze for a residency called Turnt Up, which debuts January 19.

Bagatelle knows that the way to a woman’s heart is through her stomach. The luxurious Tropicana supper club launches a Thursday ladies night on January 10, enticing women with a three-course $35 prix fixe dinner featuring options like truffle rotisserie chicken and grilled skirt steak with cognac peppercorn sauce. (Guys, this is good news for you, too; anyone can order the special menu).

On January 18 nightlife powerhouse Tao Group heads to Park City, Utah, for the annual Village at the Lift pop-up at Sundance. The Village, a 30,000-square-foot temporary venue, features a café, portrait studio and, of course, a fabulous miniature version of Tao nightclub, so guests can party Vegas-style hundreds of miles from the Strip. In other Tao Group news, Marquee NYC is getting a makeover. The Manhattan club will reopen in mid-January after a multi-million-dollar renovation that has added elements from Marquee Vegas and Sydney along with a Funktion-One sound and lighting system.

Finally, mark your calendars for January 29. For one night only, Moon is hosting GBDC After Dark, a moonlit version of the dayclub party known for bedazzled beer bongs and piñata beatdowns. It’s everything you love about GBDC, only bigger—and hosted by Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas (who just extended his Palms residency).
