There’s an inside joke among photographers that you can never go wrong shooting kids or puppies. Like sunsets, silhouettes and other gimmicks, however, you try not to rely on them too much. So it was a nice change to actually shoot nothing but dogs at a recent competition. I was only able to shoot a couple hours of qualifying and practice, but the canine athleticism and unbridled joy on display made my job effortless. The only difficult part was picking just a few photos to run.
