I do love the taste of a good burger. And if you’re like me, you might know that tucked next to the Rum Runner at the intersection of Tropicana and Spencer sits the Badger Cafe. Why is this important to you? Because while it features a pretty standard menu, it serves a damn fine burger, a griddled gem with just the right amount of char. The base half-pound burger starts at $4—add-ons cost extra and include Ortega chiles, guacamole and a fried egg.
The Details
- THE BADGER CAFE
- 1801 E. Tropicana Ave., 798-7594.
- 24/7.
The best part, besides the burger itself, is the ordering. You pencil your choices onto a ballot and hand it to your server, as if you’re playing Keno. The chile is another highlight, though you can skip the fries for beer-battered brat bites ($3) instead. It’s a breakthrough idea whose time has come.
Also, the Badger Cafe is open 24/7 to handle your culinary needs. Ah, hamburgers, the cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast.
