Whole Foods adds growlers to the menu

Draught beer? At the grocery store?

Don’t be surprised if your beer dork friends start asking to stop at Whole Foods a little more often. See, the grocery store known for organic veggies, sustainable seafood and a killer salad bar now has one more weapon in its arsenal: draught beer.

Alongside dozens of cheeses and cured meats, the market's Henderson outpost now has six taps serving up craft brews by the 64-ounce growler or 32-ounce mini-growl. The reusable bottles go for $4 a pop with fill-ups starting at $8 for the smaller size and $12 the full growler. On a recent visit, beers on tap included Mission Brewery IPA, New Belgium Lips of Faith, Anderson Valley Wild Turkey Bourbon Barrel and Tenaya Creek God Thunder Porter.

When those kegs are kicked, there’ll be new beers on offer. And there’ll be beer geeks lining up to take home them home.
