Growing up, my favorite part of New Year’s Eve in Boston (where the big downtown party is dubbed First Night) was the ice sculptures, gleaming in the dark like wintry castles. So what better place to ring in 2012 here than Minus 5, the bar actually made of ice with locations inside Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo? Partygoers who brave the cold will enjoy champagne toasts every hour starting at 11 a.m. as the New Year travels across the globe. Stop by at 4 p.m. to wish a “godt nyttår” to everyone celebrating in Oslo.

In a city where we’re all suckers for a good happy hour, Crazy Horse III is taking the comped cocktail one step further with the “world’s longest-running open bar.” From midnight on December 18 till 11:59 p.m. on December 27, locals can cash in drink tickets for free well drinks 24 hours a day. Oh yeah, there’ll be strippers there too.

Charlie Sheen. Howard Stern. Tiësto. The Dutch DJ is the latest celebrity to get his own dedicated Sirius XM radio channel, which will air commercial-free progressive house, electro, trance and downtempo selected by the big T himself starting in early 2012. Tiësto’s Club Life Radio will air the DJ’s top 10 songs of the week, his Club Life radio show and tracks from DJ/producers likely to show up on a billboard near you sometime soon.
