Nightlife news & notes: tweeting for a cause, St. Patrick’s Day and more

Image
Deadmau5 (pictured) rules. Now check out his apprentice, DJ Feed Me, when he debuts in Las Vegas on March 23.

Who says holidays should be restricted to one 24-hour block of fun? Following in the footsteps of such stretched-out celebrations as Halloween and New Year’s Eve, McFadden’s will celebrate St. Paddy’s for six total days, starting with drink specials, an open bar and Irish eats for St. Practice Day on March 12 (because getting wasted on green beer requires practice?) and ending with St. Recovery Day on March 19. On the actual St. Patrick’s Day (which recognizes a patron saint born in Britain and taken to Ireland as a slave), the Rio pub will start the day with kegs and eggs and continue the party all day and night with bagpipers, green bikinis and, obviously, tons of beer.

Your smartphone isn’t just for Angry Birds and Facebook stalking. On March 14, AFAN hosts Tweetup for a Cause at Blue Martini, a benefit for the organization in its fight against HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada. For a $20 donation guests can enjoy an open bar of beer and specialty vodka cocktails, all while tweeting their support. Think of it as a red ribbon for the digital generation. —Sarah Feldberg

A Deadmau5 residency on the Strip would be pretty sweet, right? Don’t hold your breath, EDM fans, but get excited because Encore has the next-best thing! The superstar’s apprentice, DJ Feed Me, has been confirmed for 12 exclusive dates among XS, Surrender and Encore Beach Club. Check out his recently released album, Feed Me’s Big Adventure, before he debuts at Surrender on March 23. —Mark Adams

Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge at the Monte Carlo launches Whiskey Wednesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at its second-floor cigar lounge on March 30. The first Whiskey Wednesday features three stations of whiskeys—Macallan, Glenmorangie and Glenlivet—in oak, wood casket and archive varieties ranging in age from 10 to 21 years, along with Highland single-malt scotch. An unlimited tasting costs $25. Enjoy it while mumbling “I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch.” —Don Chareunsy
