Keeping with the tropical, carnival spirit permeating the Rio Hotel & Casino, Voodoo Beach is a take-off on the look and feel of Copacabana Beach in Brazil. Follow the witch doctor’s cure for the daily grind or one too many nightclubs or Vegas shows: a hammock perched amongst the swaying palm trees, a soothing poolside massage and a delectable fresh fruit mojito. There are four pools, including a fish-shaped pool and a sand-bottomed pool that opens into a beachy cove, as well as plentiful waterfalls, five inviting hot tubs, bright aquatic murals painted on rocks, a lagoon and winding paths through thickets of palm trees. If you want privacy, find a hammock hung in a secluded spot. Once your rejuvenation session has worked its magic on your mojo, hit up one of the bars and order a rum concoction prepared by one of the flair bartenders. If the Voodoo vibe has you feeling superstitious, try your luck at the poolside blackjack table. Ladies are always free and the summer hours go until 6 p.m. Happy hour is daily from 4 to 6 p.m., and live DJs crank up the decibel level on the weekends. The last Wednesday of every month is the Latin party, Calor, complete with Latin DJs and bands, dancers and a laid-back, salsa-‘til-you-drop crowd.
