A "grifter move" entails an attempt to defraud someone. You are defrauding no one when you sit at a peny slot machine and play pennies. No one is forcing the casino to ply you with free drinks. It is a cost of doing business for them whether they are serving someone in the "high roller" room or someone playing penny slots.
I will leave it to you, however, to deal with your friend's perception of this move.
This really looks like it would be great fun, but how can anyone justify $550 for the experience?
You might actually have an interesting concept in residential unit development. Knowing how bad the Las Vegas market is today, there may be some demand for affordable residential housing that is the size of a public rest room. Certainly the cost of a 50 or 60 square foot unit would be manageable for most.
The whole looks pretty creepy as far as I'm concerned! What's with cupcakes, massages and the exhibit?

Wow! ..... and I thought $550 for swimming with the dolphins was outrageous. You're definitely in the wrong business (lawyer, journalist, writer, magician, etc.). Getting 100 guys to plunk down $3850 to listen to a "pick-up coach" tells me that's the business you want to own.
