The letter below was sent this week to all of the Cirque Executives in Montreal and Las Vegas from a Cirque artist asking for help. PLEASE READ!!
Hello to all,
I am a long time Cirque artist having worked for years in Las Vegas and other places around the globe. I truly love Cirque Du Soleil, and am very thankful for the opportunities that I have had within the company to grow an excel.
With this being said, I feel that I must ask why Cirque du Soleil has in the past and presently continues to knowingly hire and re hire abusive people and put them in supervisory positions in our company with disastrous results. My friends in many shows and myself have experienced verbal abuseand or sexual harassment with fellow artists and others in leadership positions within the company, and after taking action thru the human resource department or telling our artistic directors have been left feeling totally alone and helpless. It is well known in the company the certain people have a long history of being abusive towards others, and complaints being made numerous times against the same people and yet nothing of any substance is done to either help or protect those just trying work and make a living.
In a company that is a world leader in many respects, why does Cirque continue to allow these people (many of whom are very well known to both casting and our artist directors) to remain in the company..
