Can the low level of water in Lake Mead not be used as a way of reducing the impact of rising sea levels - if environmentally friendly desalination plants were built and the water pumped into lake Mead (and any other suitable areas) it would relieve the pressure while other measures take effect. This could be done on a commercial basis as the water could be sold at a fair price but in other areas of the world charitable foundations may meet the cost. The cost of building the pipeline will be high but the disruption caused by rising sea levels could be even higher.
