for some reason I'm compelled to watch Idiocracy again..
good rant, but being retrospectively passive aggressive about the scenario isn't really helping anyone is it?
to Karen - WOW.. someone's BF or husband apparently left them for an older woman; with all that angst can you blame them?
hook up with who you want! it's fun to explore.. I dont understand why some girl who wants to date a younger guy for sh!ts and grins makes your 'blood boil'.
I don't see myself dating an older woman.. but if the right one came along and we had a connection, then societies' standards goes out the window; To each their own.
and that second said convention you mentioned? yeah it's called the NBA.
If someone told me that I could find cheesy, phony, ignorant, gawdy, insecurity, tacky, and conformity double concentrated en masse at the same time at the same place.. I would've responded 'Get right out of town, no way'... THANK YOU jet for keeping it classy and showing me that yes, it indeed, can be done.
You're right.. that WAS depressing; depressing because you took a room full or permiscuous gorgeous half nude women and gave it some deeper meaning like it was supposed to resolve your past and all of life's problems. They have sex on film for money! Just enjoy it for what it is.
I think your debate about separating strippers from 'normal girls' is off base. Hang out with a few more dancers and you'll realize how psychologically WRECKED 99% of them are and how they throw up to stay pretty, focus way too much on their flaws and are pretty ignorant most of the time.. it'll be EASY to separate them.
don't get me wrong.. any guy with a penis can enjoy them in short bursts.. (get it? hah!)
Don't believe me? ask a stripper next time you're at a club; she'll agree... (she'll then of course assume that she's the exception)
Sooo.. can we define 'Define'?
That music list in no way reflected a list that anyone I know can relate to. Sure if I were hanging out with my mission friends in SF s few could relate, but as a whole, I don't look at one of those songs and say 'oh yeah, those were some good times' etc.. it may be BETTER music, but did it really define a generation? I can rattle off 5 emo / crunk / hyphe groups that 99% of people would relate to more (unfortunately) and made more of an impact on culture as well as the general mass that listens to them.
"So what do you do now with all the time you used to spend learning to pick up women?"
lol; good question. I work toward's my life purpose, which in itself makes me feel more complete.
and then I Rock Climb, Kickbox, ride motorcycles and do photography. (aside from photography all the things I was afraid to conquer and now have)
I gain 10x more confidence from all that than walking up to a girl.
I'm not saying this stuff to be a braggard.. im not the best by far at any of them; I'm trying to provide an alternative to a lot of misguided souls.
(And please god.. enough with the salsa lessons!)
PS a great little easy/liberating read is called 'Feel the Fear and do it anyways' it's not about pickup its about life and has great universal principles... not trying to plug anything but its relevant and powerful.
It ABSOLUTELY helped me. I should make that clear. I'll try to make an analogy from my point of view. If you want to be a great fighter you should learn to throw a punch; so you learn to throw a punch and everybody is like "wow, he can punch!". But instead of working on kicking and grappling, knees, etc.. you KEEP working on your punch.. day after day. Then you wonder why you keep losing the fight. How could this be..You have the best punch out there; while any other fighter (aka Naturals: guys who naturally are just good with women) can clearly see why.
I would go out on the weekends with guys who went out every day, would approach every woman they saw (VERY respectable); they read EVERY book. I was amazed, but then after the initial reaction they just came off as weird. And they would wonder WHERE they failed. It's like 'dude! your HOBBIES are 'trying to get laid', your taste in music is 'pickup mp3s', your LITERATURE is 'how to get girls' manuals. You FAILED because you forgot how to have a normal conversation, normal hobbies and just enjoy life!"
So yes, read, absorb, approach, then go back to real life. (Most guys miss that last step)
If you'd like to discuss this more, or have any plans on writing articles like this in the future, I would LOVE to contribute excerpts and epiphanies from my 'journey', just email me.
I have to chime in here; I was in pickup for 4 years (technically still am), I agree a lot with what you say. Ive since abandoned lines and any routines and befriending other 'PUAs' and simply kept one piece of the equation. 'Courage' if you like it go after it. I met the 'best of the best' and most of them are STILL 'off'. They're overcompensating, and looking for validation. 'Look! I can f(*& hot girls! Am I the man NOW?!' It was a huge realization that THAT was just a small part of the puzzle in finding your masculine self image. I stopped ALL pickup stuff; worked out, played sports tested my nerves in every way.. Became UNAFRAID of other guys' perception of me (surprisingly I realized for most of us, in the end, it isn't about the women, but what other guys think of us.) Then everything started to flow naturally.
Sorry to ramble, I could go on for DAYS about how Pickup has become one small, very lopsided piece of the puzzle that is your self image. Great Article!
Hahah! This is awesome.. gotta say, your guys' videos lately are outstanding.
