Steve's experience was exactly what I was hoping to have at Garth's concert - the sit around the campfire, impromptu, intimate kind of affair. Since Steve is friendly with the Wynns, I assume he had great seats and was up close and personal with Garth. When I called the Wynn and purchased tickets, I wasn't given a choice of seats and ended up in the back of the orchestra. From that distance, the concert experience was starkly different that what Steve described in this column. The intimate experience that Steve rhapsodized about can only occur in an acoustic concert if you are in fairly close proximity to the performer. Even Garth couldn't pull it off for us poor schlubs in the back, and we were distinctly aware of what we were missing.
So, I'd add a big caveat to Steve's rave review of this show - get great seats, or don't bother going.
