Trader Joe or not...it is NO WAY a Passito from Pantelleria....imposible.
Passito of Pantelleria for $9.99? No way. Whatever it is that is being sold there is not Passito of Pantelleria. I am an American who lives on this island. Also the description of the flavors is off, this is not a real Passito but a common imitation, made with blended grapes to which who knows what raisin has been added. Passito of Pantelleria is made from the unique Zibibo grape, which produces two harvests, the first which is dried and the second which is not, and blended to make true Passito. there are many engineered copies of this wine that are just not right. I would think a wine article would better understand the difference. There is no proper way in which this wine could be a true Passito of Pantelleria, with all due respect.
Also, since last comment I have checked with the grower's association on pantelleria. there is no known product like this which originates from pantelleria, ever. Trader Joe is not a client. Every bottle is accounted for.
