Bravo. About time someone wrote about this.

I wholly agree with Robin's article. Those of us who are professional photographers, (simply owning pro camera gear does not make you a professional), are increasingly encountering restrictions at official events. This is due to the non-professionals who do not follow the rules. Not all of us agree with the restrictive rules, but we follow the rules. An A-List celebrity will never grant a shoot with a paparazzi, but will so to a professional who always makes them look good, especially when they do not look their best (the golden rule of celebrity photography). Those who run around trying to get that scandalous photo, are the very people who cause event organizers to become ever more restrictive to the few of us who know how to make a legitimate living without invading the privacy of celebrities.
