Nice article, Rick.
I think that any time a city is a short-term destination for something (sex, career, fame), rather than a place you'd like to live long term, the focus will be on your objective, not settling down.
Which is all fine and good until the moment you realize you want something more... and you're surrounded by people constantly chasing tail, a higher salary, a bigger role. Sigh.
Of course, if proportion is your problem (and you tend to play by the numbers), you might find better odds by moving elsewhere. Men, you've got an entire coast. Ladies, head west.
My mother wants "Oh Happy Day" sung at her funeral. That movie was my first introduction to Lauryn Hill. I will be forever grateful. Count me as a fan.
In my opinion, the better cult film to establish is Newsies. Any 26-32-year-old woman will swoon at the line, "Never fear, Brooklyn is here!"
