It's interesting to read a negative review. Since I loved the movie, maybe I can offer some explanation for why at least some of the rest of us feel differently.
India is a great and varied land. While being the largest democracy, and recent years of breakneck economic growth having fueled the growth of a middle class, it still has some of the most destitute poverty and co-located social inequality in the world. Unlike other countries where the rich live where they live and the poor live elsewhere, in India they are forced to cross paths and interact constantly. Knowing that most of the scenes and concepts described in the movie are reality for many (and beautifully shot), makes it especially compelling to me.
I think the theme that you don't have to know all the answers, just the right ones, is also a powerful one that makes the movie. It's the reality of social class mobility and the game show as well.
I honestly thought I'd hate the movie because i hate the TV show millionaire.
anyway, my .02. i like the poop and fart jokes in shrek as well :)
