One interesting fact about Tarot cards that's rarely reported when they appear in the media, even in so-called "alternative" media, is that these cards were not initally created for predicting futures. The Tarot was originally made for card games similar to spades and sheepshead with the so-called "Major Arcana" as a trump suit. While most Americans still remain ignorant of Tarot's true history as a game and think it's only for telling fortunes, Europeans especially the French play actual card games with Tarot cards. Some Americans are now becoming exposed to these games because of the Internet and a few are even forming Tarot game clubs. I think the media might be missing a story here by focusing only the divinatory uses of these cards.

Tarot card reading has already been done to death in the English language media. In a culture in which Tarot cards are viewed exclusively as a divination tool, playing actual card games with the Tarot is a superior act of non-conformity.
