I believe the mp3 DJ has killed the industry. It's unfortunate DJ's who have been in the business for years now have to compete with "Johnny Amateur" who claims the same status as others just because he bought a laptop and software.
It used to be about the "hard to find" tracks for the competitive edge in the business. Now it's just knowing how to read numbers and and graphs. I believe some club owners and clients are slowly going to find out the difference between the two types, and hopefully choose the quality and creativeness over the just the lower price they charge.
Being in the business for 15 years I look for it as a challenge to step up the game.
