Hi-hat sweeps you into a heavy horn groove and this come-hither voiceover channeling Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop.
“Ooh, why hello. Who could that be comin’ down my chimney? Ooh! Lemme help you with that … heavy sack.”
That burnt-sugar voice belongs to Melody Sweets, the sexy songstress we know as Absinthe's Green Fairy. The song, “Santa Maybe…”, was produced, arranged and engineered by Eric Plante of Cirque stalwart O, with mixing by Grammy-nominated producer Tim O’Heir and the backing band of Plante, Mike "Beans" Begnino of MJ Live, Stephen Lee of Donny & Marie and David Perrico of Pop Strings.
Sweets stands up to their considerable talents, delivering an innuendo-laced holiday treat with brassy, big moments and playful jingle-bell whispers alike. It sticks in your head after one listen, in a good way. As Sweets purrs, “naughty’s never felt so nice.”
“Santa Maybe…” is available on her site, and a release party is planned for December 19 at Fizz inside Caesars Palace. It’s the singer’s birthday, too, so friends and fans are invited to celebrate with a live performance by Sweets, burlesque by Miss Exotic World Michelle L’amour and “plenty of eye candy throughout the evening.” It starts at 11:30 p.m., and as this is her first recording since 2013's Burlesque in Black, we're expecting Sweets to wear her party pants. Sure, there are lots of holiday jams, but her old pal Penny Pibbets may have tweeted it best: "FINALLY! A dirty X-mas song about perving out w/Santa!"
