Pat Davis of Passion Parties, Inc., has turned sensual products into a lucrative (and lubricated) direct-marketing business

You were on Denise Richards’ reality show on E!, It’s Complicated. How did that go?

I did a Passion Party for Denise. She wanted to get out of the rut she was in, going through the divorce with Charlie Sheen, and the whole premise was, “Denise gets out of the rut.” We went to Calabasas and did a party for her and five of her girlfriends, and she was very, very nice, very interested and very complimentary of how educational everything was. They giggled and had a great time … The buzz was out there about us, and they just rung us up and asked me to host this party, because I’m a motherly type and president of the company. They wanted to make sure it was somebody Denise felt comfortable with. They had a spa party, and I was next, and I asked her if she wanted me to bring out everything, including the products with batteries, or just keep it lotions and potions. But she was interested in seeing everything and she assured me it would be tasteful, so we brought out the big boys and had a lot of fun (laughs).

You’ve been married for a long time, right?

This September, I will have been married for 47 years, and happily married. I still love him and I still like him. We are great soul mates. But you have to work on relationships, whether you’re single in a short-term relationship or a long-term relationship, happily flying solo, you have to work at it. Passion Parties can add some accessories to add some spice and variety to whatever relationships you are in … You need to talk about things, communicate, about this topic the same way you talk about the kids or your career or whatever else is going on in your lives … My husband was very open, very supportive, about me starting the company. I think he knew more about the products than I did (laughs), and if he wants to be involved in research and development, all the better.

What is your best seller?

Our No. 1 seller is a product we developed a long time ago, in 2002, called Pure Satisfaction, an enhancement gel. It can be unisex, but the women use it more than the men. It just warms everything up, and it helps for stronger, faster … uh, fun (laughs). It sells for $39.50, and it has about 400 orgasms in a bottle—they say.
